Welcome to ‘Gumboots & Love’
My name is Jennifer, and I am the girl behind the blog.

So who am I? Well I was born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada. In my mid-twenties I met the love of my life – on the other side of the world! So after two years of traveling back and forth between New Zealand and Canada, I made the decision to quit my job, sell my condo and leave my city life behind for rural New Zealand. And I have never looked back! Best decision of my life.

Last year, my partner and I, purchased a small farm on the South Island of New Zealand, where we graze lambs throughout and finish them for the works and have a few calves. IMG_8061

My writing is centered around life on the farm, navigating motherhood and being a stay-at-home-mum and figuring out life one step at a time.

Not having grown up on a farm, but in the country, I am still learning everyday and some of my experiences are rather funny, if not short of hilarious, as I try to navigate my way through helping manage our small ‘station’, with a baby strap to my hips and two dogs and cat in tow.
We welcomed the arrival of our first child in January 2016 and it has been a learning experience ever since. I would not change it for the world and love being a mum. She teaches me more each day. Having a baby changes you in the best way possible, but it is true about what they say, I wear my heart on the outside of my body everyday now and would do anything for this little bundle of cuteness.
I have also always been passionate about the environment and protecting this beautiful world that we live in. It doesn’t take much to make a difference and if everyone does one small thing for the environment, we would see big changes in the end.

So in short this space will be a bit random as I document the various stages of life I am in and what is going on in our lives, but they do all connect and I am grateful to have an outlet to share my stories with you.

Thanks for stopping by. It means so much to me that you took the time to read my blog and invest in our lives. I will respond to all questions and comments in the comments area and look forward to hearing from you.
